Our Biblical View of Marriage, Divorce & Restoration
At UnYoked Ministries, we believe every person is created in the image of God and deeply loved by Him. Our ministry exists to help people experience the hope, healing, and restoration found in Jesus Christ, especially during one of life’s most painful experiences: divorce.
Because divorce is such a personal and often emotional subject, we believe it is important to clearly communicate the biblical convictions that guide our ministry.
We Believe the Bible Is Our Final Authority
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. Every resource we create, every conversation we have, and every ministry decision we make is measured against the truth of Scripture.
Our desire is not to reflect changing cultural opinions, but to faithfully teach and apply God’s Word with humility, compassion, and conviction.
We Believe Marriage Is God’s Good Design
Marriage is God’s idea, not man’s. From the beginning, God established marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, designed to reflect His love, faithfulness, and covenant relationship with His people.
We celebrate marriage as one of God’s greatest gifts and believe it should be honored, protected, and strengthened.
We Believe God Hates the Damage Caused by Divorce
Scripture teaches that God hates divorce because it brings deep pain to husbands, wives, children, families, and churches. Divorce was never God’s original design or desire for marriage.
Whenever possible, we believe marriages should be strengthened, reconciled, and restored through repentance, forgiveness, biblical counsel, and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
We Believe We Live in a Broken World
Because of sin, marriages sometimes experience betrayal, abuse, abandonment, addiction, unfaithfulness, and other forms of brokenness.
While Christians have sincere differences regarding some passages related to divorce and remarriage, we believe Scripture must always be our authority. We encourage every person to seek wise biblical counsel and to pursue God’s will with humility and obedience.
We Believe the Church Should Respond with Both Truth and Grace
Jesus never compromised truth, nor did He withhold grace.
We believe the Church should lovingly uphold God’s design for marriage while extending compassion, care, and hope to those whose marriages have ended. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity, love, and respect, regardless of their past.
The Church should be a place where people find biblical guidance, genuine community, and encouragement to faithfully follow Christ.
We Believe Restoration Is Possible
Divorce is not the end of a person’s story.
Through the grace of Jesus Christ, God restores broken lives, renews hope, deepens faith, and continues to use imperfect people for His glory.
Our ministry is not built around helping people “get over” divorce. It is built around helping them become devoted followers of Jesus who discover purpose, healing, and joy in whatever season God has called them to live.
Our Commitment
UnYoked Ministries exists to come alongside the local church, not replace it.
We are committed to creating biblically faithful resources that help churches minister effectively to people walking through divorce and its aftermath. We seek to uphold God’s design for marriage, honor the authority of Scripture, and point every person toward the hope, healing, and restoration that are found in Jesus Christ alone.
What This Ministry Is… and Is Not
- We are not a ministry that minimizes marriage or encourages divorce.
- We are not a substitute for the local church.
- We are not driven by cultural views of marriage or relationships.
- We are committed to the authority of Scripture.
- We are committed to strengthening churches.
- We are committed to helping hurting people faithfully follow Jesus.
